Plant & Food Research’s network of orchards and farms have a central role in enabling us to undertake field research and work with our partners to develop the cultivars required to ensure the ongoing success of New Zealand’s horticultural industries.  Our dedicated field teams work closely with our science staff to support a wide range of research projects.
As a member of our Lincoln field services team, you’ll contribute to the efficient and safe operation of our research farm, with an emphasis on providing land preparation, crop planting, maintenance and harvesting support. Working closely with the Farm Manager, you’ll have an important role in promoting best practice health and safety management in all aspects of the farm’s operations. You’ll also help develop and implement effective health and safety systems and operating practices for the wider Field Research Network.   

You’ll have proven practical experience and ability in agriculture, horticulture, plant breeding or related fields together with experience and a strong interest in best practice health and safety management in field-based work environments. You must be physically fit and willing to work outside in all weathers. With excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail, you’ll have a mechanical aptitude and be skilled in operating tractors and other farm machinery. A full drivers’ licence is essential with a heavy traffic endorsement an advantage.
