Akitio Livestock Ltd managesthe livestock operations of Akitio and Huiarau Station’s, these properties include stunning coastal farmland in the Tararua District. The   business has strong governance, with good professional support networks in place.

The Owners have big plans for increasing and improving the infrastructure on both the properties, to help nurture areas of biodiversity and keep natural waterways clean as well as maximising returns from pastoral farming.

Between Akitio and Huiarau, the land encompasses over 4,600 hectares with 2,000 hectares set aside for the livestock enterprise. The balance is used for other business ventures within the Group, including 2,600 hectares that is kept for growing native and pine trees. Both properties have well developed laneways for easy stock access with excellent flats on both properties for cropping.


As the Operations Manager, you will be working closely with the Owner and Governance team with a strong emphasis on stock performance and production, along with general farm productivity. The Operations Manager is responsible for the sustainable operation of Akitio Livestock Ltd. The key objective being to generate strong cash surpluses and increase the equity of Akitio Livestock Ltd.

Key responsibilities will include the business management of the property, managing the team, the livestock and the continued improvement of the farm infrastructure. Also, managing the Health & Safety, being involved with the reporting systems and working closely with contractors and suppliers.


As the Operations Manager you will show strong attention to detail, be the person out casting your eye over the full operation and then planning and developing the direction. Our clients are looking for a person, that enjoys organising and planning, but will also collaboratively include the team, allowing them to offer input and develop their skills.

There is an element of hands-on work with some station tasks that will be beneficial for the Operations Manager to be part of, such as monitoring and measuring of pasture and stock. We believe you will require a minimum of 2 working dogs and be a practical person with a proven track record of animal performance and profitability.


The Operations Manager role comes with an attractive remuneration package, including a 4-bedroom 1970 summit stone home located on Akitio with unobscured views of the ocean.

Akitio is a coastal settlement, 55 minutes east of Dannevirke with schooling options in surrounding areas. There is a small community of permanent residents along with summer bach’s.
