Waytemore Farms Limited comprises three farms, with a total holding of 1454.5ha, located across the rural communities of Ararimu, Paparimu and Paparata, on the southern Auckland city boundary. The three contiguous farming properties consist of one sheep and beef farm (949ha) and two dairy farms (505ha combined) with their own staff, all which are all well-raced for access and stock movement.

Our clients take a lot of pride in their farming operation and have excellent infrastructure and farming policies in place. The property is currently running 1800MA ewes plus replacements, 750 beef cattle, and 180 R1 & R2 dairy heifers.

The 2IC/Stock Manager will support the Farm Business Manager with Waytemore Farm’s sheep and cattle operation; the sheep are mainly run in one area due to the location of the sheep facilities, and the appointee will be fully involved in this part of the operation.

Responsibilities will include the organisation of the pasture and feed management to maintain growth rates for dairy heifer replacements and dairy beef cattle, as well as managing the stock rotations and the animal health programme. The appointee will also organise and complete the weighing and recording of cattle, with feeding out at certain times of year required, to maintain growth weights.

You will bring a high level of stockmanship, a great sense of humour, be easy going and love working as part of a team, as well as the following:

  • Experience administering animal health and all aspects of stock management.
  • Ability to maintain accurate stock records and tallies.
  • A good understanding of pasture and feed management.
  • Excellent communication skills within the team, with the ability to work autonomously and show initiative.
  • Machinery Operating experience such as tractors.
  • Understanding of and experience with NAIT.

The role comes with an attractive remuneration package including a warm and tidy 3-bedroom home, with a basement/garage and views of the beef component of the farming operation. In the area you will find good shopping, fishing, beaches and is in proximity to the motorway, with plenty of partner work opportunities a short drive away, if needed.

The owners value having the right staff for their business, therefore training and education will be provided to give the chosen appointee the chance for professional development and career progression.
