Pine Grove is a privately owned sheep and beef property, situated in the strong farming district of Ti Tree Point, Weber, just 30 minutes east of Dannevirke. The property comprises 1400ha effective of medium-to-medium steep hill country. The original property has been in the Riddell family for more than 100 years and two neighbouring blocks have recently been purchased providing additional scale, accommodation, and facilities to the farming operation.

Pine Grove are looking for a current Stock Manager/ Block Manager / 2IC, or someone ready to step up into this position, to join their team.


The owners are committed to finding the right person for this role and are open to discussions around titles and responsibilities. For the sake of this  advertising, the role will be referred to as a 2IC.

This is a newly created hands-on role with a focus to maintain and improve the already high performing business. The 2IC will be responsible for the planning and management of all day-to-day activities. There will be a variety in your work with stock working taking priority and repairs and maintenance to be done in any down time.

There is an opportunity for continued growth within the business by way of further responsibility, contribution to stocking policies and farm development; any new ideas would be welcomed. For the right person Farm Management would be considered.


The successful applicant for this role will be a hardworking individual who is willing to understand and contribute to the farm policies. To succeed in this role, you will bring:

  • Excellent understanding of the fundamentals of farming.
  • Strong understanding of feed quality and supply/demand.
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills.
  • A team of 4-6 working dogs under good control.
  • Accurate record keeping and reporting skills – Cloud Farmer is utilised on farm.
  • General Skills – fencing, handpiece
