General Hand - Ohinewairua Station

• Located in Manawatu in the Moawhango District.

WHERE

This 7,500-hectare station is situated on the Napier-Taihape Road in the Central North Island and is owned by longstanding family shareholders. It consists of flat to rolling hill country and backs onto the Waiouru Army base with the Kaimanawa ranges nearby.
The station is running sheep, beef and deer in both a breeding and finishing farming policy. This is a well-developed farming business which has established infrastructure throughout the property and good farming systems and cropping plans in place.

WHAT

Reporting to the Station Manager the General Hand will have responsibilities for a broad range of tasks, offering you a variety of work in your week. You will be able to work independently but will also enjoy working as part of a team to complete tasks.
Key responsibilities will include:

 

• Maintenance on machinery, including light welding.
• General farm work such as R&M fencing, firewood, farm road maintenance and some feeding out.
• Water reticulation – maintenance and development.
• Yard work as required.
• Tractor operation.
• Spraying and drilling.

WHO

Our client is looking for a General Hand with initiative, a positive attitude, and commitment to the job. The below are the key skills required to succeed in this role:

• Machinery operating.
• Machinery Maintenance.
• Light welding skills.
• Fencing R&M.
• Water Reticulation.
• Teamwork.
• Strong communication skills.
• A current restricted driver’s licence at a minimum.
